Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman hits every note. A western with a penchant for violence and a female protagonist who is every bit as formidable as the gang she’s seeking vengeance against, Vengeance Road gives us a glimpse into a West that was unwelcoming to women and more than a little wild.
After her widowed father is unceremoniously murdered, Kate sets out to find the men who killed him. The path to vengeance is never easy, though, and Kate embraces the worst the west has to offer her along the way.
Where Vengeance Road shines most is in its voice. Erin Bowman has dug deep and given us in Kate a character who oozes the wild spirit of the west. With a deep, uneducated voice that sucks you right in and won’t let go, Kate is everything I’m looking for in a protagonist. (Click to Tweet)
Read Vengeance Road if you’re looking for a book that drips with voice, an exciting, violent western, or an opportunity to root for a protagonist who’s as real as you are.
Don’t read Vengeance Road if action and violence aren’t your thing, or if you get squeamish at the thought of a girl who could tear you a new one without a second thought.
